Desperate Times Call for Bogus Claims . . . Well at Least According to the NRCC's Latest Ad

NRCC attack ad on Marshall blatantly false

Reno, NV – The same day the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) began airing a desperate attack ad in Nevada, rife with incorrect information and misleading statements, the Kate Marshall for Congress campaign responded by debunking every false claim-- amounting to every claim made in the advertisement.  The blatantly false attack ad aimed at Marshall is a clear attempt to try to distract Nevada voters from Mark Amodei's reckless, billion dollar tax hikes and taxpayer funded pay raises.

"Mr. Amodei appears to be running scared from his failed record of sponsoring a billion dollar, job killing tax increase while voting to give himself a pay raise on the taxpayers' dime," said Marshall spokesman James Hallinan.  "Unfortunately for him, Nevada voters won't be fooled by desperate attempts from inside the Beltway to distract from Amodei's self-admitted record on raising taxes.  In stark contrast, Kate Marshall's prudent financial management has made, and saved, millions of dollars for Nevada taxpayers and helped attract jobs to the state at a time when Nevadans need them the most."

Please the see the facts below that the NRCC and Washington insiders don't want you to know:

Kate is taking on Wall Street:

Kate Marshall made $55 million dollars for Nevada citizens the year Lehman defrauded Nevada and the nation.

The total value of the assets associated with the Lehman default stands at approximately $25 million today.

Marshall continues to aggressively fight Lehman and their Wall Street Lawyers to obtain even more compensation for Nevada taxpayers in conjunction with the Nevada Attorney General.

On Face-to-Face , Jon Ralston said Marshall “could not have foreseen Lehman Brothers collapsing.” [Face to Face, Jon Ralston, Block 1, 2:05, 7/12/11]

Kate Has Never Spent Entire Office Budget– Saved Taxpayers Millions:

Marshall has worked hard to save the taxpayers' money by not spending 9% of her budget in FY 07 and spending even less in FY10, coming in 13% below her office's budget.

Treasurer Marshall has come in under budget every year.  She returned more than $2 million and over 16% of her office’s budget to the Nevada General Fund.  [Annual Reports of the Treasurer’s Office, FY2006-2010]

Unlike Mark Amodei, Kate Marshall has never taken a pay raise since becoming State Treasurer.  Since taking office, Marshall has rejected a pay raise every time it has been offered to her.  [Las Vegas Sun, Jan. 6, 2011; Las Vegas Review-Journal, Oct. 19, 2006]

Kate has saved taxpayers millions of dollars in renegotiated contracts, and the state's renegotiated banking contract alone saved Nevadans $2.1 million.

Treasurer Marshall has also saved taxpayers' money by receiving the largest unclaimed property transfer in the state’s history in FY 2010 ($66 million).  Under Kate Marshall’s administration the Unclaimed Property Division has transferred approximately $189 million to the General Fund, an increase of more than 140% over the previous administration’s last term.   Marshall also increased the amount of money returned to Nevadans from unclaimed property by 160% to $20.6 million.

Serious Caretaker of Taxpayer Money:

Kate has earned millions for the state of Nevada, beat the benchmarks and made money for the state of Nevada every single quarter.

Kate has maintained the state’s excellent AA credit rating even through one of the worst financial crisis our nation has ever experienced. [Annual Reports of the Treasurer’s Office, FY2006-2010]

Kate proposed and passed legislation to create jobs and increase funding for Nevada students. The legislation, SB75, allows the state Treasurer to invest up to $50 million in education trust funds to support economic diversification efforts and generate more money for Nevada public schools. [Nevada News Bureau, 6/16/11]

Marshall supported a bill to reduce rates on small business loans.  In 2011, Marshall testified on SB64 and said, “SB 64 establishes a program that would create long-term assistance to businesses in Nevada as they rebound from the economic downturn over the next few years.” [Las Vegas Review-Journal, 3/1/11]
