State Treasurer relishes role as Nevada’s come-from-behind winner.

Carson City, NV – A feisty State Treasurer Kate Marshall declared “I’m ready for a fight,” and expressed optimism about her reelection in response to a Mason Dixon poll released today which showed her in a statistical dead heat with her challenger.

“I was the underdog in my last primary, and I won,” Marshall said. “I was the underdog in my last general election, and I won. I’m confident in my record and ability to win again.”

Treasurer Marshall’s record of accomplishment, integrity keys to endorsements.

Reno, NV - State Treasurer Kate Marshall today announced key endorsements from public safety organizations throughout Nevada. “My campaign is about results, integrity and experience,” Marshall said. “These endorsements highlight my record in my first term.”

The Southern Nevada Conference of Police and Sheriffs (SNCOPS), the Peace Officers Research Association of Nevada (PORAN), North Las Vegas Police Officers Association, and the Professional Firefighters of Nevada highlighted Marshall’s record in their endorsement messages.

“The greed and excess on Wall Street, there is no question that has spiraled out of control,” Reid said.

During the press conference, state Treasurer Kate Marshall said securities should be more transparent and Wall Street more accountable.

Dodd’s 1,500-page bill addresses derivatives, financial contract that are based on the future value of an asset, Reid said. Wall Street investment banks trade and create derivatives, including mortgage derivatives that analysts say contributed to the financial debacle.

On that point, Nevada Treasurer Kate Marshall notes that with the possibility that funding shortfalls will translate into higher student costs at Nevada’s public colleges and universities, a prepaid tuition program offers a way to remove some of the uncertainty.
